If you are one of the people who is reading this article, then I would assume that you are already taking a good hard look at the future of social media. You have probably read articles and blog posts that predict doom and gloom if the social media community doesn’t change in the next few years. So, what do you think the fate of social media will be in the next few years?
It seems that the prediction for the future of social media is filled with gloom and doom and pretty much gives out all the good reasons why you shouldn’t be using it to market your products or services. But, are these really the case? Can it really be said that the prediction is true? Let’s take a look at the situation and find out.
The prediction is not absolute in any way. Social media is still relatively new and hasn’t reached anywhere near the level of hype and media penetration that websites like Facebook has achieved. In fact, many websites and blogs are not even getting close to the number of daily active users that Facebook boasts of. It is definitely true that there are many people who haven’t even heard about social media yet.
This just means that the predictions don’t make a lot of sense. Some people are saying that Facebook will reach as high as Google someday, but who knows? Facebook’s future is completely up to them. If they decide to make major changes and roll out millions upon millions of new users in the next few months, that certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing. However, there is no indication of this happening and this is probably a good thing since it means that more people will get involved.
Does this mean that the prediction about the future of Google is coming to pass? No, it doesn’t. The future of Google certainly looks a lot different than what was mentioned here today. You see, Google is still very big and dominant in many areas, but it does have competition. Yahoo is still working hard to keep its foothold in the Internet, while Microsoft has taken a giant step into the online world with its own browser brand.
So, how do we interpret these predictions about the future of social media? We can look at it in a couple of different ways. For one thing, we can say that it is a prediction, but it isn’t necessarily a good prediction. On the other hand, it could also be a re-assessment of where social media is headed.
What does this mean for you? It means that you need to start looking into it more deeply. It is definitely a time for you to figure out how to get involved. Whether or not you join in and help build a community, or if you simply participate, your presence in the community will be greatly enhanced. I think it is smart for you to go ahead and do both now, as it will increase your chances for success.
Take some time to really think about your involvement in the future of the Internet. How will you use this new found social medium? What are you looking to get out of it? This will help you make the right decisions.
This is a tough one for many people, especially when they feel as though they have done everything they can in the past. The future is always unpredictable, and sometimes you have to take risks. If you fail to predict the future, you are ultimately gambling with your future, and that is not a good thing.
This is also a great opportunity to improve upon yourself. Are you a member of any groups that you may belong to on the Internet? What are your hobbies? Do you have any idea what questions you would like to see answered in the future?
These are questions that you are probably already thinking about. They come up pretty regularly, and one of the best answers is to get involved. Join an online discussion board or two, perhaps write an eBook on a topic that interests you and your interests. I know that this is easier said than done, but if you have any interest in finding out more about the future of technology and the Internet, then it is more than possible to do this. It is all up to you. You have got to believe that there is a future, because that is where you are going!
